Too Many Ideas, Not Enough Clones

I’m sitting at my desk this morning with Crone of Oria out in the wild with beta readers and Hacked by the Beast sliding into the inboxes of ARC readers—and you’d think I’d feel accomplished. Productive. Maybe even relaxed?

Yeah. No.

Instead, I’m staring down the what-next of it all, hopped up on caffeine and ambition, wondering which story to write next.

It’s not a motivation problem. I’m plenty motivated. I want to keep this train rolling straight to Full-Time Author Town (population: me, hopefully) with a layover in No-Second-Job City.

The issue? Too many irons in the infernal fire.

Option One: Rob and Elena – Oria’s Werewolf Uncle & Fae Auntie Finally Make Out

The obvious front-runner is the next Oria book. Rob and Elena. Our resident wolf pack’s dependable, jokester uncle and mysterious fae auntie. I love the idea of them finally stepping over the line—especially while Michael and Theo are busy unraveling ley line magic and decades of emotional repression.

The tricky part? Elena’s fae heritage is going to be a big deal… and I don’t quite know where it’s going yet. So I either pants the hell out of it (tempting) or let it marinate in my brain soup for a bit longer.

Option Two: Pretty Woman, but Make It Dragon

Next on the list: a monster romance I’ve been quietly obsessed with. Think Pretty Woman—but instead of a billionaire in a suit, he’s an ancient cursed Chinese dragon who hasn’t felt his inner fire in centuries. Until her.

He feels the dragon again. She feels… well, things.

I love the vibe, but the subplot needs work. Everything I’ve tried so far feels like I’m forcing puzzle pieces from a different box. Still, he’s waiting. Broody. Smoking (literally). Cursed. Patient.

Option Three: Tez & Jules – God of Night, Queen of Sarcasm

Then there’s the Essence of the Gods sequel. Jules and Tezcatlipoca. I know this one in my bones—it’s sprawling and magical and leads right up to the world of Molly and the Reaper. Unlike Essence, which stayed small on purpose, this one’s ready to go full epic.

Also? Tez is peak shadow daddy. We’re talking Aztec god of night, darkness, and sexy danger. He’s got it covered. Cloaked. Shadowed. Tattooed, pierced and cocky as hell in the corner, just waiting.

But here’s my problem: Essence is my most polarizing book to date. I wrote it as a love letter to tropes and chaos and went all in on the cheese platter. It was fun, ridiculous, and full of heart—but not everyone got the joke. Now I keep wondering if a sequel is worth the emotional hangover.

Option Four: Orc Crushes and Realm Collisions

(Spoilers for Molly and the Reaper) Since the veil between worlds got all shredded and chaotic, there’s room for a lot of monster romance. I’ve been sketching out a new series that would take full advantage of that chaos. First up? A human scientist trying to understand the merging realms… while nursing a feral little crush on an orc fighter.

Think: emotional repression, tusks, and maybe a lab bench that’s seen some things.

Option Five: Sci-Fi Baby Waiting in the Wings

Lastly, there’s this sci-fi idea that’s been quietly chilling in the wings for years. Interdimensional travel. A daughter searching for the father she thought died 25 years ago. Sharp class divide vibes. Think Demolition Man meets Fringe with more feelings.

It’s weird and gritty and a little unhinged. I love it. I just don’t know if now is its time.

So, yeah. Too many stories. Not enough hours. Definitely not enough clones.

But whatever I write next, it’ll be full of heart, heat, and just enough weird to make me fall in love with storytelling all over again.

Wish me luck. Or send snacks.
